A Cadillac SRX will be able to tow between 2,500 – 4,250 pounds. An SRX with a 3.6 L V6 will be able to tow between 2,000 – 2,500 pounds. If the optional towing package is installed, this can be increased to 3,500 pounds. An SRX with a 4.6 L V8 will be able to tow a maximum of 4,250 pounds.
However, that doesn’t tell you the whole story. In the table below, we’ll first explain the maximum towing capacity of this car based on the model year and the available engine types. Maximum Towing Capacity Per Year
First of all, it’s important to know the maximum towing capacity of a Cadillac SRX. In the table below, we’ve outlined the different model years and engine types and indicated the maximum towing capacity for that specific type of car. In general, the conclusion is as follows:
The 2005 – 2009 Cadillac SRX has a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 pounds with a 3.6 L V6 and 4,250 pounds with a 4.6 L V8. The 2010 – 2016 Cadillac SRX has a maximum towing capacity of 2,500 with a 3.0 L or 3.6 L V6, which can be increased to 3,500 with the optional towing package. The 2.8 L V6 has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500.
Furthermore, it’s important to know that most Cadillac SRX’s come with wiring for towing as a standard. If you have the optional towing package on your car, this means your SRX also has a hitch receiver behind the rear faceplate, a finished 4-prong plug-in for the trailer hookup, and a transmission oil cooler. All of these upgrades will allow it to tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds.

How Well Can A Cadillac SRX Tow Compared To It’s Competitors?
Finally, it’s also important to know how well a Cadillac SRX can tow compared to its competitors. This is beneficial information if you’re in the market for an SRX and trying to figure out how well the car performs compared to the other options you have.
We found that the Cadillac SRX is certainly not the best tower compared to its competition. The 2,500 pounds that the SRX comes with as a standard is well below what the competitors offer. The 2016 Volvo XC60 offers a pretty low 3,300 pounds minimum, which is still a lot higher than the SRX.
Furthermore, the 3,500-pound maximum is also not that good compared to the competition. The X5 and Q5 both blow this number out of the water, with the X5 promising a solid 6,000 pounds. The GLK 250 and the XC60 are the only cars comparable to the SRX, with 3,500 pounds and 3,300 pounds, respectively.
