Our team at thedriveradviser has taken upon itself the task of finding whether or not the Nissan Rogue is reliable. We test all the vehicles beyond the limits to give you the actual maximum mileage, after which you can expect them to go to heaven. Our rigorous testing requires strenuous amounts of research across multiple platforms.
We took a pool of nineteen thousand one hundred and ten Nissan Rogues on sale in the US. We then performed one of the most subtle yet straightforward reliability tests; we noted the odometer reading for miles traveled. After all the calculations, we have given all the data in a table for ease.
We divided the data into four mileage intervals and calculated the percentage of Nissan Rogues within the set range.

From the years of accumulated automotive experience, we know that if a vehicle can show more than 3% in the 150k+ miles category, it is deemed reliable. However, the Nissan Rogue could not cross that barrier—not to mention the enormous gap. The Rogue only had 1.83% of them able to cross the 150k+ miles mark.
When we looked at the rest of the data, the result was very disappointing. Most of the Nissan Rogues haven’t even crossed a hundred thousand miles. As you can see, there are only 8.11% within the 100k–149k miles, while the rest is resting up to 100k miles.
This data suggests that the Nissan Rogue can only be a good choice if it has yet to cross the 100k miles mark. If this 100k mile is breached, the Rogue will start acting rogue. In short, the Nissan Rogue has failed the first reliability tests. However, we have a list of tests to which we will subject it to prove further whether or not it’s reliable.
How Reliable Is A Nissan Rogue Compared To Its Competitors?

Let’s compare the Nissan Rogue vs. Honda CR-V. The sample size for both the Rogue and CR-V is about the same. As you can see, there are 1000+ Honda CR-Vs that were able to cross the 150k+ miles. On the other hand, the Nissan Rogue only had 351 of them crossing the 150k+ miles.
When we compared the highest mileage data, the numbers were astonishing for the Honda CR-V and not astonishing for the Nissan Rogue. CR-Vs can go 400k+ miles, while the Nissan Rogue can only go up to 220k miles and would then think about retirement.
How Reliable Is A Nissan Rogue Compared To Other Nissans?
If the manufacturer has most of its models in the not reliable category, it would mean the manufacturer itself is not reliable, and vice versa. How Much Does Maintenance Cost Per Year?
If you somehow ended up making the buying decision, you would have to consider the maintenance cost. We have given the annual maintenance of several model years. The recent years were not included as the data was insufficient to provide the exact cost.

The overall average is $453, which you are required to spend on maintenance every year. On the other hand, the Honda CRV has an average of $407 per year, which means you would have to spend more on maintenance if you have a Nissan Rogue.
Nissan Rogue Common Problems

The sending unit is a float connected to a metal rod having a resistor, which sends variable inputs depending on the level of fuel in the tank. What you might not know—this sending unit will cost you $1000+ to replace.
The Notorious P0444 Code On Nissan Rogue
The check engine light illuminates when something is wrong with a component in your vehicle. It mostly happens when the onboard computer either fails to communicate or gets a distress signal from one of the sensors.

If we look at the depreciation of a Nissan Rogue, it’s about 50% after five years of being newly released from the dealership. The moment you take it out of the dealership, the value decreases. After five years, it will be about 50% remaining in its value.
