When you own a Dodge Neon, there will most likely also be moments where you need to know how much the car weighs. We went through all the owners’ manuals of this specific car and calculated the average weight for each model year and engine type to find this out. The short answer is as follows:
The 1999 – 2005 Neon has a curb weight of 2,657 pounds with a 1.6 L engine, 2,582 – 2,745 pounds with a 2.0 L engine, and 2,948 pounds with a 2.4 L engine. The 1995 – 1998 Neon has a curb weight of 2,338 – 2,507 with a 2.0 L, depending on whether the car is a 2-door coupe or 4-door sedan.
However, this doesn’t tell the full story. In the next subheading, we’ve outlined the base weight of the Dodge Neon together with some useful notes. This way, you’ll surely find the weight of the Dodge Neon. Furthermore, we also teach you where you can find the maximum weight rating of your car. Read on!
Curb Weight Per Year
In the table below, we’ve outlined the curb weight for each specific model year of the Dodge Neon ranging from 1995 to 2005. Retrieving this data was quite difficult so let me explain how this was done for you to read the data properly.
It’s good to know that this data isn’t provided anymore by Dodge or Chrysler (which also made the Neon). The curb weight is also not available in the owners’ manuals which we could still find online. Therefore we’ve referenced different authoritative sources on the internet and went as detailed as possible with this.
This was quite well doable for the 1999 – 2005 models (the second-generation Neon) but more difficult for the 1995 – 1998 models (the first-generation). The second-generation numbers are probably very close to the actual numbers. The first-generation numbers are more of an estimation and as close and reliable as we could get them.

How Much Does A Dodge Neon Weigh Compared To It’s Competitors?
Finally, we feel it’s a good thing to also compare the Dodge Neon to its main competitors in terms of weight. We took the weight of the 2005 models, given that this is the last year the Neon was produced. What we found here was that the Neon seems to score in the middle of the pack.
Its minimum curb weight is right in line with its competitors. Only the Chevrolet Cobalt seems to be noticeably heavier than the other cars. On the top end of the spectrum, the Neon is quite heavy but nothing ordinary. The Cobalt is once again the heaviest car on the list.
Make/Model | Minimum Curb Weight (lbs) | Maximum Curb Weight (lbs) |
